I went to the Senators' game on Monday with my sister. We had excellent seats in row G, just behind the goalie. The arena was filled when the Senators faced the Flames. Seeing so many Calgary supporters in Ottawa was nice. Mathieu Joseph and Nazem Kadri performed the infamous puck drop because it was the Black History game.
The Flames were in control during the first period, but they made a mistake, which allowed Brady Thchacuk to take advantage of his opportunity. The Flames were still in control of the game, thus this goal had no impact on them. If I had to choose one word to sum up the first period, it would be discipline. The entire time, both teams were in the penalty box. Calgary scored because of this lack of self-control. They certainly earned it because they played better hockey. The Senators' performance in the second period was pitiful; they were always defending. I nearly went the entire period without seeing a single player in my zone. The fact that Tyler Toffoli scored a goal was the only positive aspect of the second. My sister and I, adore this player. I loved him when he played in Montreal. The most fascinating time by far was the third. There were three goals scored, and of them, two came in the final three minutes. Let me lead you there. The Flames won 3-1 after a fantastic goal by Calgary's Dillon Dube. Everyone stood up and left in the final five minutes of the period. I had never seen anything so embarrassing in my entire life. Never once would I leave a game early. The Senators are currently 7-3 in their previous 10 home games, but their supporters have already left the building. I was furious to see everyone leave. But the Senators didn't disappoint me. During the game, we were encouraging both team, because I am not a fan of both team, but I'm a hockey's fan. Yet, I immediately became the biggest Ottawa fan when I watched the supporters depart. I was cheering for two! Sogaard turned to face his coach before leaving the rink. Ottawa was 6 to 5, and I thought their performance was excellent. Although I was aware of Ottawa's strength in the power play, I was unaware of its intensity. Drake Batherson quickly managed to get the puck into the goal. I was very happy for them, but with barely two minutes left, they were still trailing by one goal. For the faceoff, Sogaard returned to his net, but then he quickly got out. The Senators had six players on the ice for a second time. And guess what? Yes, I was going crazy after they scored again. The equalizer was scored by Alex DeBrincat. The remainder of the crowd was insanity. I was so relieved that those who left did not see those goals. The overtime was a little bit longer than the one against the Pingouins. Nonetheless, Tim Stutzle gave Ottawa the victory. The Senators were successful in making a late comeback and winning the game. Soogard earned the third star for his stellar performance, which included stopping 34 shots. Tim Stuzle was unquestionably the game's first star because he was involved in each goal. I was unimpressed by the Senators' fans. You don't quit a game early simply because you didn't want to wait in traffic. As so many people left, it was obvious that you were in the traffic. Which is worse: being caught in traffic while discovering that you missed your team's fantastic victory or being stopped in traffic while enjoying this victory? Think about it!
I'll use this article to talk about the black athlete of the day. I'll speak about Senators player Mathieu Joseph. He was born in Chambly in 1997. He played for a few years in the LHJMQ for the Sea Dogs of Saint-Jean. Eventually, the Tampa Bay Lightning selected him in the draft. Great player Mathieu Joseph won two NHL Cups with Tampa Bay. Sadly, he was unable to participate in the 2020 Stanley Cup final, but he did play in six of the 2021 championship games. After the final in 2021, he was seen eating poutine in the Stanley Cup. He was traded to the Ottawa Senators. His brother also plays in the league, he is a Pingouins player. On January 20, when they were playing against one another, they both received penalties for high sticking. They both serve as excellent examples of the league's diversity. Despite their youth, I do not doubt that they will have a positive impact on the league. Happy Black History Month!
